Tropical cyclone analysis for the North Atlantic basin.
Every 6-hour observation of every tropical or subtropical cyclone this year is plotted as a colored dot: blue for depressions (<34 kt), green for tropical storms (34–63 kt), yellow through purple for Saffir-Simpson categories 1–5. Thin dark lines connect a storm's observations so you can see the track.
Storms currently being warned on by NHC get a spinning, glowing cyclone icon at their most recent position, colored by current intensity. The number (1–5) or letter (S for tropical storm, D for depression) inside the icon shows the current SSHWS category.
The side panel lists every storm of the year with peak wind, minimum pressure, and individual ACE contribution. Active storms are highlighted at the top.
Historical tracks come from NOAA NCEI's IBTrACS v04r01. Active and very-recent tracks are pulled from NHC's ATCF best-track archive as soon as each advisory is issued.
